What is the Integrity Checker?

What is a CRC32 Algorithm?
What files does Sentinel scan?
How to use the Integrity Checker

Overview:
-What is the Integrity Checker?
-> The Integrity Checker is an advanced system file verifier. It uses a CRC32 Algorythim (Cyclic Redundancy Checksum) to verify your system files and make sure they haven't been modified.

-You lost me. What is a CRC32 algorythim? What does it do; and how does it work?
->A CRC32 check will produce a 'digital fingerprint' of any file. Any size files will be reduced to a small code that represents the whole file. If the file changes, it will produce a new finger print. What makes a CRC32 algorythim so great, is that even a tiny change will yeild a completely different digital fingerprint; so if even a space is added to the end of the file, the signatures will not match at all!

-What types of files will Sentinel scan for Integrity?
->Sentinel will scan only files located in the Windows\System directory (Windows 95/98/ME) and the Windows\System32 directory (Windows 2000/XP/NT). The files located in these directories are some of the most valuable files, and is the most probable location for a virus or trojan to infect or hide itself.

-> The files that Sentinel scans are DLL (Dynamic Linked Library), DRV (Driver), 386 (Virtual Device Driver), SYS (System File), OCX (Active X Control), EXE (Executable), COM (MS-DOS Application), as well as PIF and SCR files (two commonly exploited file types - MS-Dos Shortcut Files and Screensavers).

->Sentinel saves all CRC32 information in the Integrity.dat file. And each entry is encrypted using a very strong encryption algorythim (to prevent programs from editing Sentinel's Integrity file, to make them appear as valid).
