What
can I do with Sentinel?
-Sentinel
is designed to help the user pinpoint and terminate various viruses and
trojans. Sentinel comes with three major tools to help make it easier
for the everyday user to keep their system free of viruses.

Sentinel is NOT an Anti-Virus Program-
-It is more like a supplement to your existing anti-virus
programs. Basically, Anti-Virus programs will scan everything that is
currently running, and that is downloaded. However, there are cases where
anti-virus programs fail to 'see' a virus or trojan horse program (for
example: many anti-virus programs will fail to see a virus or trojan due
to out of date definition files; or may even fail to eliminate a virus
or trojan completely).
-Sentinel
reduces the risk of infection or even re-infection by monitoring your
most important system files for changes. What Sentinel does is look for
new files, or any slight change in system files (using a pre-compiled
CRC32 algorithm written in pure ASM), executables, or other core component
files in your system folders (you can specify other folders to scan) on
startup or shutdown.

The
three tools:
-AppWatch:
Shows you all running windows. From here, users will be able to close
the desired application with the click of the mouse. For a detailed description
of AppWatch, and its features, click HERE.
-RegWatch:
Displays all applications that are loading at startup using the Registry.
From here, users can view loaded applications, scan them for viruses,
and even delete those Registry entries with extreme ease. If you are unfamiliar
with what the Registry is, you should visit the RegWatch help page by
clicking HERE.
-IntegrityChecker (Scan): This is Sentinel's
most powerful tool. All first time Sentinel users should read through,
and understand the way the Integrity Checker works by clicking HERE.

What
steps should I take if I suspect a Virus or Trojan?
-First,
make sure that you are familiar with the three tools that Sentinel provides,
and follow these general directions:
1) You should always start with a Full Scan in the Integrity Checker.
Sentinel will notify you if any files have been changed or modified.
...If no files Fail, then it is possible that the malicious program isn't
executing or infecting files in your system folder. Follow the next steps
to ensure system integrity.
2) Open RegWatch, and scan every entry in the list by clicking on the
'Scan File for Viruses' button.
...If no viruses are found, then move on to step 3
3) Open AppWatch, and attempt to close any suspicious programs. Many viruses
and trojan use 'technical' or 'important' sounding names for their applications.
Sentinel will not always be successful in closing applications (it uses
a passive closing method).
